Teknologi Global Positioning System atau yang lebih dikenal dengan nama GPS adalah sebuah sistem navigasi-radio yang terbentuk dari gabungan 24 buah satelit-satelit berikut stasiun-stasiun penerimanya. GPS menggunakan "bintang-bintang buatan manusia" ini sebagai titik acuan untuk memperkirakan (menghitung) posisi secara akurat sampai dengan hitungan meter.

Bahkan kenyataannya, dengan menggunakan peralatan GPS yang lebih baik, anda dapat memperkirakan posisi sampai dengan hitungan centimeter! Seolah-olah kita menandai setiap meter per segi di planet ini dengan menggunakan alamat yang unik.

Alat penerima GPS telah diperkecil ukurannya sampai hanya sebesar beberapa IC dan oleh karenanya menjadi semakin terjangkau. Sehingga membuat teknologi ini dapat digunakan semua orang. Saat ini teknologi GPS dapat anda temukan di kendaraan, mobil-mobil, pesawat, peralatan survey, peralatan pembuatan film, peralatan pertanian, bahkan pada laptop-laptop.

Information System


Information System is a combination of people, hardware, software, communication devices, network and data resources that processes (can be storing, retrieving, transforming information) data and information for a specific purpose. The operation theory is just similar to any other system, which needs inputs from user (key in instructions and commands, typing, scanning). The inputted data then will be processed (calculating, reporting) using technology devices such as computers, and produce output (printing reports, displaying results) that will be sent to another user or other system via a network and a feedback method that controls the operation. Stands for "Information Technology," and is pronounced "I.T." It refers to anything related to computing technology, such as networking, hardware, software, the Internet, or the people that work with these technologies. Many companies now have IT departments for managing the computers, networks, and other technical areas of their businesses. IT jobs include computer programming, network administration, computer engineering, Web development, technical support, and many other related occupations. Since we live in the "information age," information technology has become a part of our everyday lives. That means the term "IT," already highly overused, is here to stay
